Types of Drug Rehab Treatment

Since drug addiction is so complex there are a variety of drug rehab treatments available. These solutions have risen up to deal with the intensity of cravings and to overcome the compulsion of physical and psychological addiction.

Addiction is generally recognized as being mental as well as physical which is why drug treatment must adequately treat both impacted areas.

With so many types of drugs, addictions, and potential co-occurring disorders it should come as no surprise that treatment is not simple. Not everyone can be uprooted from work for a few months and not everyone has the finances available to afford residential care at a rehab center.

Since there is no “one size fits all” in drug rehab it’s typical that effective treatment programs will make use of many components. The goal is to stop the individual from using drugs and maintain a life that is completely sober so they can be productive and helpful to the family and society.

It’s worth pointing out that since addiction is a chronic disorder it generally cannot be cured in just a few days. The majority of addicts will need a long term plan that helps them sustain abstinence. After detox is complete it’s typical for a treatment facility to engage in a variety of behavioral treatments to help the addict stay sober. The goal of these treatments is to modify an addict’s attitudes toward drug abuse while simultaneously setting healthy life skills.

There are a variety of treatments available that range from residential to outpatient. Outpatient behavioral treatment is for addicts who attend a treatment center on a regular basis but who do not live there. There are normally programs scheduled around work or school, such as individual and group counselling. There may also be specific treatments like cognitive behavioral therapy which helps addicts realize, avoid, and deal with situations where drug abuse becomes a possibility. Family therapy may also be utilized as it helps facilitate family functions while providing pressure for the addict to remain sober.

For those who need more intensive treatment there are residential options available which typically involve the addict living at a treatment center for an extended period of time (normally 30 - 90 days). This method of recovery can be highly effective - especially when problems are more severe and long term.

Residential treatment centers can make use of the above strategies but commonly provide a lot more. It’s not uncommon for there to be group and individual counselling as well as time for meditation, holistic treatments, and much more.

Residential options are generally recommended for those who (a) can get away for a month or more and (b) want more intensive therapy. This form of treatment rehab has the highest success rate.

For those with co-occurring disorders such as mental health issues there are a number of centers available that specialize in this sort of treatment. If you or someone you love has a co-occurring disorder it is highly recommended that they attend a specialized facility. These centers offer treatment tailored to unique needs and are provided by experts in addiction and mental health.

If you or someone you know is looking for a drug rehab call 866-287-8770.

Women’s Drug Rehab

As you no doubt expect, a women’s drug rehab facility only admits women into the facility. This differs from the standard rehab facility which is typically mixed gender.

A women’s drug rehab center provides services that are specifically tailored to women. Depending on an individual’s needs and preferences these centers can remove an element of discomfort to facilitate the healing process.

Why attend a women’s drug rehab?

It has a lot to do with comfort. Recovery is a tedious process and the presence of the opposite sex can be distracting or even traumatic.

Many addicts are able to link their addiction to a life altering event that occurred in their past. For some women this will involve a male and in extreme cases can lead to shockwaves of distrust and negative feelings through their entire life.

According to the National Institute for Drug Addiction, estimates suggest that up to 80% of women seeking treatment for drug abuse report lifetime histories of sexual and / or physical assault. With this in mind an important part of a women’s recovery center is to ensure the appropriate resolution of trauma while in a safe place.

By removing men from the recovery process some women feel safer, more comfortable, and free from distraction. By surrounding themselves with women who are going through the same ordeal as they are can create a kind of sisterhood experience with ties that can bind them together long after leaving rehab.

Another reason why it’s worth attending a women’s only rehab center is because research shows that women and men are rather different when it comes to addiction. A 3 year study put together by Health Canada showed the following:

  1. The physical health of women is impacted more drastically and in a shorter period of time by intensive substance use than it is with men.
  2. Women's reproductive system is uniquely affected by substance misuse.
  3. Among women mental health issues are frequently associated with and exacerbated by substance use.
  4. Women who misuse substances are at high risk for suicide
  5. Women who misuse substances frequently have sexual dysfunction.
  6. Women who misuse substances typically experience low self-esteem
  7. There are multiple other health disorders that are linked to women who misuse substances.

A rehab center that caters specifically to women will be aware of these factors and will be able to guide the recovery process in a way that does not just address the addiction but also the underlying mental and physical health issues associated.

There are many rehab clinics that cater exclusively to women. A quick search on Google with your area will no doubt bring up plenty of options. In Vancouver one example is Women Into Healing that offers a fairly standard program as well as a relapse prevention plan. The organization, like so many others that offer rehab programs for women, is fairly normal but simply comes in lieu of any male patients.

Attending a women’s rehab center is entirely up to the individual but it certainly has its benefits to the recovery process. Not just in the abstinence of men but also in having a center that caters directly to a woman’s unique physiology.

Men’s Drug Rehab

Men’s drug rehab centers can be highly effective places for an addict to recover. As you might expect these kind of facilities differ from a regular rehab center in that there are no female patients, only men.

There are two main reasons why an individual would want to attend a men’s only rehab center: Freedom from the opposite sex and to get treatment at a facility that specializes in male recovery.

The benefits of no females around can be massive. Without females present a sort of brotherhood is able to be formed as men fight through the recovery process together. While this is a pleasant benefit there are reasons to enroll at a male only center that go much deeper than this. Addiction and trauma are closely linked together and for some addicts there will be some trauma revolving around females.

Maybe they’re not quite comfortable around women or perhaps there are deep seeded intimacy issues - the severity isn’t nearly as important as the underlying reasons.

With addiction and trauma having such a strong correlation sometimes the best thing that can happen is for all potential links to that trauma to be removed during the healing process. At an all male recovery center this is exactly what happens.

It allows the addict to get a peace of mind and be able to heal without linkages to the past. While such a center is not necessary or beneficial for all men, in some cases it can potentially make a world of difference.

Another reason to attend this sort of facility is because men and women do not experience the same physiological and mental consequences as a result of addiction.

A 3 year study by Health Canada showed that women typically experience greater physical problems than men in a shorter period of time. This is just one example of how care would differ between males and females.

North Bay Recovery Center has the following to say about men and addiction:

“Treating drug addiction and alcoholism in men is dramatically different than treating women with addiction disorders. For one, the core issues that are understood to cause addiction in men revolve around uniquely male experiences that can include father-son dynamics, denied emotions, emancipation, intimacy, and pressures related to stereotyped expectations of men.”

These are all experiences and problems associated with men and spending time exclusively with other males in rehab allows for isolation from the problem and an easier time addressing the issues.

Men and women are equal but have different experiences and worldviews. The all male rehab center that addresses these differences in an appropriate manner can only benefit those who enroll to receive their services.

At the end of the day male rehab centers exist to deliver services that have been custom tailored to males. By removing points of discomfort and trauma in addition to drug treatment services they can be recommended to certain individuals who would benefit from isolation from the opposite sex.

12 Step Drug Rehab

12 step drug rehab programs originated all the way back in 1939 when Alcoholics Anonymous published their book ‘The Story Of How More Than One Hundred Men Have Recovered From Alcoholism.’ This method was later adapted to become the foundation of other 12 step programs - including in drug recovery.

Perhaps the best - and most beneficial - part of a 12 step program is that it is very rigid. It has worked in the past and it will continue to work in the future so the system is locked tight and kept unmalleable.

The American Psychological Association breaks the elements of a 12 step program down as follows:

  1. Recognizing that a person cannot control their addiction or compulsion
  2. Realizing that a higher power that can give strength
  3. Reflecting on and examining past errors with the help of a sponsor
  4. Doing what it takes to make amends for these errors
  5. Learning to live a new life with a new code of behavior
  6. Aiding others who suffer from the same addictions or compulsions

The core idea behind a 12 step program is to seek recovery in more than just one facility. Physical, mental, spiritual, and emotional are all areas that are sought to be improved.

This involves:

Physically - freeing the body of addictive tendencies to the abused substance(s).

Emotional - dealing with the cognitive processes that cause relapses after a period of abstinence.

Spiritually - the great flaw is self-centeredness and is aimed to be replaced with moral consciousness.

Mentally - the awareness and correction of mental issues.

Through conquering each of these individual parts an addict stands to make a full recovery and transform their lifestyle.

A key part of most 12 step drug programs is the use of a sponsor. The sponsor is generally a person who is more experienced in recovery. New members are typically encouraged to have at least one sponsor and to ensure that they have a relationship with them.

Narcotics Anonymous views sponsors as:

Sponsors share their experience, strength, and hope with their sponsees... A sponsor's role is not that of a legal adviser, a banker, a parent, a marriage counselor, or a social worker. Nor is a sponsor a therapist offering some sort of professional advice. A sponsor is simply another addict in recovery who is willing to share his or her journey through the Twelve Steps.

Sponsors are helpful because they’ve already gone through the 12 steps and can help a recovering addict see what’s coming next. They’re able to address and talk about problems they’ve had as well as help the recovering addict overcome obstacles.

There are many benefits to a 12 step drug program. While no doubt some will take concern to the presence of religion and surrendering to a higher power, others will find this extremely welcoming.

Regular meetings are an essential part of any 12 step program and Narcotics Anonymous hosts nearly 60,000 meetings in over 130 countries. Odds are there is a 12 step drug problem not far from where you live.

Long term drug rehab treatment centers

Long term drug rehab treatment centers were created specifically for individuals who have become addicted to drugs with more serious side effects like crystal meth, crack, heroin, methadone, and oxycontin. Not that individuals addicted to these substances are the only ones to attend such a facility, chronic alcoholics and others can benefit from staying into a long term center.

As you might expect, long term programs typically last much longer than the normal stay at rehab. Where standard treatment might last up to 3 months and as low as 30 days, long term drug rehab can last from 6 to 12 months and even longer.

There are many kinds of long term treatment programs which include everything from the 12 steps to the addressing of co-occurring disorders and even therapeutic communities.

A therapeutic community is a highly structured program that keeps patients at a residence for a time period typically between 6 and 12 months. Therapeutic communities are different from other methods of treatment because they rely heavily on the use of a community (the staff plus those in recovery) as an integral part of the change process.

Therapeutic communities can influence attitudes, perceptions, and behaviors that are linked to drug use, especially in those with a long history of drug addiction. Recently these communities are becoming more specialized with one example being accommodations for women who are pregnant or have children

Why might an addict seek out or need long term care? According to a US National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) study rehab programs should be at least 90 days or longer to give the addict an opportunity to recover. This is a big piece in the puzzle of why long term rehab is important.

The big concern a lot of people have before entering rehab is the effectiveness of the program - after all, if it doesn’t work then there is no point in going through with it. There are two concerns with this line of thought. First, that fear is controlling the decision to return to a sober lifestyle. Second, it’s removing responsibility from the addict.

While there is no denying that it will be easier for a recovered addict to start abusing substances than someone who never has, at the end of the day personal responsibility is the most important thing. Once an addict has been detoxed and the physical addiction removed the rest becomes a mental war. To use or to not use is in the control of the addict but distance from the previous life helps..

So why long term care? Long term rehab is useful because it greatly extends the amount of time that an addict will have (a) external support and (b) others around him who are also recovering. Over months and months these networks can have an astounding impact on an individual.

While long term care is an option keep in mind that the addict can also attend 12 step programs like Narcotics Anonymous. for a long period after leaving treatment as well.

Inpatient drug rehab treatment centers

Inpatient drug rehab treatment centers - very similar to residential care - are an intensive method of rehab that involves an addict actually living at the facility. This is generally regarded as the most effective style of care due to the 24/7 attention an addict receives.

The difference between inpatient and residential care is monitoring. Both methods of treatment involve an addict living at a facility but the difference is that residential care patients are not monitored at all times.

Not every addict requires inpatient treatment - generally those who need continuous nursing care are  (a) very depressed and suicidal or (b) cannot break through their addiction in any other way.

Inpatient treatment is normally very short term and therefore the primary concern is stabilizing symptoms and developing a plan for continually addressing the addiction.

This level of care is not offered at every single facility so be sure to check the center’s offering to make sure that inpatient treatment is available.

It’s only natural that some addicts will be uncertain about starting at an inpatient drug rehab treatment center as they can be perceived as very intense. Most of the time the opposite is true.

Inpatient centers are typically very supportive with a focus on healing both the mind and the body. Through detox physical addiction is removed and through therapy emotional addiction is destroyed. While detox can be intense the presence of a physician who can prescribe medication will greatly alleviate the symptoms.

Worth noting, some facilities will encourage family participation as loved ones can have a major influence on the healing process. Beyond this there will often be group therapy sessions that will promote a community feel of multiple people recovering together.

An inpatient program is a safe and structured environment that is isolated from the external world. As such stress is minimized as well as other potential psychological triggers that may prompt an addict to begin using. The absence of negative influences means that addicts in inpatient treatment can focus on building the skills they need to fight off addiction in the long term.

With such intensive levels of care and monitoring, inpatient treatment is perfect for individuals who have unsuccessfully tried to beat addiction though it’s also useful for individuals who want to take no risks with their recovery process.

If you’re uncertain it’s worth doing an assessment with a professional who can ensure that you’re getting treatment that best meets your needs. For many residential treatment is more than sufficient to ensure recovery.

Always make sure you carefully go over each facility’s treatment plan to ensure what they’re offering is primarily evidence based. These sorts of facilities are backed by science and offer the most successful way to recover.

Some centers specialize, admitting men or women only, GLBT individuals, or those with co-occurring disorders (like mental health issues). These specialized centers are worth taking into consideration when making your decision.

Dual Diagnosis Drug Rehab

Dual diagnosis drug rehab is useful for treating the many addicts who suffer from mental health problems in addition to substance abuse. These individuals present a therapy center with a diverse set of challenges that we have only recently been able to identify and effectively treat.

It was around 1995 that mental health agencies and rehab centers realized that patients with co-occurring disorders required help and services beyond what they were able provide. There was an unfortunate gap between what a mental health center and a rehab center could provide that left many patients without the specialized help they needed.

This was especially true with individuals who suffered from more extreme disorders like schizophrenia, bipolar, and major depression. There was much speculation about what to do and luckily about this time evidence based treatment was yielding results.

There was then an established collaboration between mental health clinics and addiction centers that brought the two fields together in accordance with these proof-based treatments. Over the next decade these agencies brought attention to co-occurring disorders and today it has widespread recognition.

Here is a list of some of popular dual diagnosis treatment strategies found in rehab centers.

Staff will receive training that puts a focus on both mental health and substance use disorders. This way they’re able to recognize and deal with issues that come up, regardless of which co-occurrence they might be running on.

Medications Are Extremely Important

It has been noted that antidepressants and antipsychotics may be the only way to stabilize patients with a serious mental illness. This complicates things when in the detox stage as medications become mixed (this is why specialists are on hand).

Harm Reduction Must Be Considered

At times it’s more important to keep an individual from harm than to immediately detox them. This is obviously up the the discresion of the professionals at the center.

Non-residential Is Far Less Effective

Since these addicts are off-site and may want to self-medicate with drugs and alcohol the thoughts of losing privileges or being dropped from the program are of little importance to them when compared to the relief of being high.

Often There Is Little Support Available

Many with co-occurring disorders have little support available in the outside world (if any) and therefore their treatment must factor this in. This is different from many addicts who have family and friends who love them and can act as a support network when they return from residential treatment.

Dual diagnosis rehab centers are highly recommended for individuals with co-occurring disorders. As you can tell, these individuals have many characteristics that makes them very different from the regular addict.

Mental health and the stigma that goes with it is a massive complication to the treatment process. A dual diagnosis rehab center should be considered essential for those who need it.

Holistic Drug Rehab

Holistic drug rehab is a form of rehab that focuses on healing a person’s total being - the body, mind, and spirit. Holistic centers are cropping up all over the place as it’s becoming accepted that individuals require more than treatment for physical addiction.

Holistic treatments bring together relaxation, exercise, and meditation to lower stress levels and focus on healing the mind. You’ll note that these treatments also keep the body in a sufficiently healthy state.

There are a number of holistic treatments available, some more common than others. When it comes to rehab centers you can attend facilities that focus more or less on holistic treatment - really the choice is up to you.

Let’s identify some of the more common holistic treatments that are available. Note that they should not be used on their own as a rehab program.

There are many ways meditation can be performed but at the core let us distill it down to simply being one with yourself. According to the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine:

Meditation may be practiced for many reasons, such as to increase calmness and physical relaxation, to improve psychological balance, to cope with illness, or to enhance overall health and well-being.”

So it’s easy to see why holistic rehab centers use it. Truth be told, little is better than simply being at peace with yourself.

Acupuncture is the ancient Chinese method of sticking needles in the skin at special points. For millennia people have said it’s calming and new research suggests that it is more effective than placebos in relieving certain kinds of pain as well as post-operative nausea. It’s been suggested that it may be able to treat anxiety, sleep disturbances and depression but more research must be done before these claims can be certified. Either way, it’s easy to see the place that acupuncture has within holistic drug rehab.

Massage Therapy

Massage helps release endorphins and increases the flow of blood which will speed up the process of removing toxins from the body. Of course, a good massage does wonders not just for the body but also the mind. A massage is an excellent way to relax and alleviate stress. While not commonly practiced simultaneously, massage and meditation go hand in hand.

Acupressure is very similar to acupuncture but does not involve actual needles. Instead pressure is applied with the index finger and thumb on certain areas of the body called “acupoints.” If an individual is able to identify their own acupoints they can perform this kind of treatment themselves.

There are many more methods of holistic drug rehab that you can research as you desire. Remember: holistic treatment should be used with other forms of rehab - it should be clear to see that massage and acupuncture are not enough on their own to rid an addict of years of substance abuse (if only it were so easy).

LGBT rehabs

LGBT is an abbreviation used to refer to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT). Homosexuality used to be classified as a mental illness, the American association of psychiatrists changed the classification of homosexuality into a normal variation of human sexuality. A study conducted at Columbia's university concluded that those members of the LGBT who were living under an environment that provided encouragement or emotional help had less suicide rates compared with those of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender with less support. Suicide rates are more in the LGBT group of individuals than those of the general society due to social rejection, fears, feelings of being nullified and psychological conditions that cause stress to this group of individuals, and the negative feelings developed by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community towards themselves which leads them to abuse drugs. Studies have shown that up to 25% of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender population can't control their drug abuse.

These rehabs provide the difficult addiction treatment programs for the individuals who may be uncomfortable for a community whose needs are usually alienated and their health issues are usually ignored. They aim to provide refuge for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community from their society, they provide special and appropriate treatment approaches to make them accept themselves and help them build their new set of personal characteristics. Societal and social factors like negative views from religious groups, friends life partner, children and the whole family which restricts their freedom within borders and boundaries of their community which contributes to their low well being medically, psychologically and spiritually. Biological sex is that a person is male or female, while Gender is the characteristics (physical, psychological and intellectual) that distinguishes males form females and is what differentiates masculinity from femininity. Gender identity is subjective sense of their own being male or female and isn't related to orientation or role. Gender role describes the behaviors that are considered appropriate in a particular society. Transgender is different from transsexual transgender when oneself identification as male/female doesn't match identification as male/female by qualities and characteristics according to gender. Sexual orientation is what makes you feel attracted to one sex and not the other

sex. Heterosexuality can influence the LGBT community by many ways, through either stigmatization or negative feelings like feelings of vulnerability, doubt, isolation, and fear that makes them a confined and sidelined community.

These rehabs focus on treating addiction of alcohol and other drugs in this community in addition to the needs of this group. They provide special treatment approaches that make them feel better about their sexuality and help them find an environment where they recover without fears of being alienated because of their sexual orientation. These rehabs are similar to other rehabs of the heterosexual community, they provide the same treatment and detoxification options with focus on sexuality. It is especially helpful in situations where an individual started to experience with drugs due to depression, anxiety and fears about self-disclosure. These type of rehabs provide counseling and treatment for gay men, gay women, and bisexual men and women, especially for those who are trying to get free of constriction or restraint. Those of the LGBT group who are trying to strive in the face of resistance, even those who are solid in their beliefs might still have some negative thoughts about themselves because of the heterosexual society. Because of fears of discrimination that are related to drug and ethanol abuse. Support groups in Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender rehabs help clients discuss treatment and recovery issues and concerns.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender rehabs ensure that information about their clients is entrusted with confidence i.e. confidential. Of critical importance to an LGBT individual is to guard information about their sexuality and alcohol and drug abuse, and forbid revealing or uncovering of information about their habits without their permit. They also teach Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender individuals how to tell others (heterosexuals) about their sexual orientation (come out of the closet or simply come out) and whether the heterosexual community will respect them and how to be free from confusion in one's private life and relationships. The process of coming out is a privacy issue and often described as a journey , it means having a positive feeling about being gay rather than being embarrassed or disgraced. The process of being out is a life strategy to reveal his sexuality where individuals cooperate to contribute to a common purpose. There is correct way or plan to come out because some individuals never come out. It is a pride instead of stigma, pride is the name used by most organizations that are gay-related, the pride emblem is the rainbow and is often represented by the rainbow flag or the rainbow sign. All are promoted by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender rehabs.

An LGBT individual has been raised in a community that declares that should not exist, or may be a target of harassment, violation, physical damage or abuse. The damage caused by others may affect the sexuality and the emotional state of an LGBT. An LGBT individual needs professional advice, because it's common to find drug and alcohol abusers in the LGBT community and many of them have turned to alcohol because of abuse of the heterosexual community. An LGBT needs a person who has the experience and who is engaged in the LGBT community. Because a healthcare provider may do more harm than good by asking the wrong question and/or in the wrong time. In the rehab, doctors, nurses and psychiatrists are educated and well-trained to deal with the issues of the individual. LGBT rehab estimates the assistance they need and the intensity of care that needs to be provided, in order to make sure that the intensity of care is exactly what the LGBT individual needs. This form of rehab teaches gay men and women how to come out if they wanted to, they teach them how to tell their sexual orientation to others, they teach them how to explore their sexuality. And this coming out is radically distinctive for each person of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community.

Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender rehabs also provide treatment for the LGBT family as well especially in cases of family withdrawal of support and/or responsibility. These form of rehabs provide programs to alleviate the physical symptoms of dependence, and other programs to transition the LGBT individual to the heterosexual community. Also there are LGBT rehab centers that manage issues related to sexual orientation e.g. gay rehabs, lesbian rehabs...etc. LGBT rehab facilities have programs specific for each individual of the LGBT community. LGBT rehab also offers programs that are tailored to help an LGBT recover on his own. The rehabs also offer specialist counseling and advice, support groups, and cognitive-behavioral therapy programs to help them overcome the negative feelings they acquired from the heterosexual community. LGBT rehabs provide treatment programs for mental disease and psychiatric disorders because abuse can lead to risky health behaviours which might lead to sexually-transmitted disease, and HIV infection. An LGBT usually doesn't reveal his sexual orientation to their treating physicians and other providers of health care. LGBT rehabs also join and blend the process of detoxification with sex health teaching away from homosexual phobia and away from fears of distinction because of their sexuality (hetero-sexism)

LGBT rehabs offer Inpatient residential care programs, individual and intensive outpatient treatment and counseling, intensive care programs differ from non-intensive programs in the time spent with the health care provider. A health care provider in an LGBT rehab knows the needs of the addict to provide better treatment outcomes. Several disputes are discussed in LGBT-friendly and sensitive LGBT rehab e.g. fear, grief, homophobia (internal and external), hetero-sexism being concealed, socialization skills, trauma, HIV infection related stress, counseling, distinction, rejection from the society, the process of coming out, and how to invest and organize what was learned in LGBT rehabs in everyday life

if you or a friend, a family member or someone you love is an LGBT is a victim of alcohol or drug addiction, suffers from sexual health problem or complaining from any LGBT-related issue, you need to find the closest LGBT rehab and start counseling and detoxification. It is a quality of spirit and mind that enables us to decide with courage and will impact your life in a positive way. Remember that it's similar to heterosexual addiction treatment programs but it focuses on an LGBT-friendly treatment modalities and focuses also on what led the LGBT individual to abusing drugs and alcohol. After admission care programs are also offered in LGBT rehabs where they integrate knowledge and skills learned into being positive towards life events.

Luxury Drug Rehab

If you’ve got a near infinite amount of money you can spend on rehab there are a variety of options available. As you no doubt expect there are drug rehab centers that are a cut above the rest - and they charge for it.

Here’s the thing though. Not all these centers are insanely expensive. While they can be priced from $90 - $180k per month there are loads of fine establishments that are in the more affordable range of $15 - $40k per month.

Why would someone want to enroll in a luxury rehab center? One of the most important reasons is for privacy.

If you’re a public figure of any kind privacy is extremely important. Not just for celebrities but also for executives of public companies. These executives would not just lose their jobs but also their careers if word ever leaked out that they were an addict. Luxury rehab centers can typically provide the levels of privacy such a person would need, which no doubt comes as quite a relief to some that these services exist.

Here is what a site on luxury rehabs had to say on the subject:

When management circumstances are hindering you or a relative from looking for care for a problem with substance abuse or behavior-related addiction, executive rehab treatments will be what you need. Pairing top-rated drug abuse and behavioral addiction treatments with the freedom of occasional computer and mobile access, a business person can receive assistance while keeping relatively "plugged in".

The amenities at luxury treatment facilities are generally vastly improved over free and standard rehab centers. Depending on the center there may be chefs that prepare gourmet meals, pools, golf, acupuncture, a spa, and so forth.

At the end of the day a luxury rehab center is really a resort or high end private residence with specialists on site that are experts in the field of addiction and recovery.

Of course these treatment centers come at a price. A price in the tens of thousands of dollars per month can be expected. Privacy, quality care, fitness, nutrition and a resort style environment come at a cost.

When it comes to the high earners there is an interesting trend. A lot of these individuals simply cannot take the 30, 60, or 90 day durations and walk away from their jobs and lives, therefore they’ve been bringing rehab centers to them.

The strategy is to hire “sober companions” which act as sober assistants, or act in other inconspicuous roles.

A sober companion has to, beyond their covering duties, keep the client away from substances they abuse.

Bringing everything together, the key takeaway is that you’re going to get what you pay for. In a luxury center you get high levels of care, privacy, and a pristine setting - the trick is to identify the rehab centers that are priced more affordably.

Heroin Rehab

What is Heroin Rehab

A heroin rehab is a pre-designed and scheduled detoxification program that is supposed to enable a heroin addict come out of his prevailing habits after the period of rehabilitation. This means at the end of the program the person is made to acquire mental and physical ability to keep out from the use of drug. The treatment is largely medical and psychotherapeutic in nature. The addict or patient is subject to rehabilitation program using differential approaches for the different extents of damage caused to the sufferers. The objective of the rehabilitation program is not only to detoxify the victim, but to get him rid of the macabre of past and to sustain peacefully in the society. Through the program, the victim is undergone a training schedule whereby he is taught how to live and interact in drug free ambience. The heroin rehab can be carried out in-house or in centers away from the proximity of the residence. This too is done aiming at targeting the vulnerability of the victims, the key considering point being sustenance of the program in an uninterrupted and seamless manner. While without being properly treated addicts are seen going back to their old habits, a successful rehab schedule is found to reduce chances of recurrence to many folds.

Core aspects of the Rehab Schedule

According to an estimate, the year 2009 has seen a consumption of three hundred and seventy five metric tons of Heroin in its purest form across the globe. This is only second to the alcohol consumption and has a spread over many countries including the United States, The United Kingdom, Italy, France, African Countries, China, India, Pakistan, Iran and in some parts of South American continent. Doubtless that Heroin Rehab is indispensable like never before. Different methods are followed in a Heroin Rehab program. These are meant for victims affected at different levels  The therapeutic models of treatment can vary from patients to patients. Sometimes it's motivational, while often it has to be cognitive. Besides there are different methods for the victims who have emotional leaning. The behavioral therapy of the rehab program includes Motivational Interview, Multidimensional family therapy, Motivational awards and Cognitive-behavioral therapy. Besides, medication is widely used.

Key Principals

There are different methods of Heroin Rehab programs, though the key to the successful regimen are often seen similar across the clinics. Some are the outlined here...

  1. Anyone addicted to drug, over the time, causes harm to the functionalities of the brain.
  2. Every addicted person has neuropsychiatric change at different levels and thus the program should be designed so as to address his/ her specific problem.
  3. The treatment schedule should evolve as per the victim's response
  4. Close monitoring of the victims especially at the initial phase of the rehab schedule is essential ; in-house or at the centers.

  5. The Rehab program should address the psychiatric issues too beside monitoring physiological response of the victim. Especial care should be taken if the patient is an HIV infected one.
  6. The addicted persons should have an access to the counseling facility of the treatment clinic.
  7. Inter-personal relation should be left as undisturbed as possible to deter any feel of isolation.
  8. The victims might have other mental disorder or ailment associated or not associated with addiction. The rehab program should address these issues too.
  9. The counseling timings should be closely maintained and must not be given a miss. The timings are designed and scheduled in such a way that they help the victims get maximum benefit. A miss could reduce or nullify the effect and may demand a start of the schedule afresh.
  10. Counseling through closely bonded family members are often considered an option, especially the victims who are undergone the regimen at their residence.
  11. For the victims at the far away centers, sometimes close relations are encouraged to visit to take part in the counseling process. There are times when relations; visits are kept under rap as the part of the Counseling process.
  12. Completion of the regimen is an absolute must.

Counseling has the pivotal role in any drug rehabilitation program and that is true for the Heroin Rehab program too. Qualified counselors are engaged to interact with the victims from the very beginning of the rehab program. Counseling a victim is a sequential process and that is carried out in phases. As the course of the treatment progresses, the counseling changes with the victim's changed behavioral pattern. This is done taking the spouse or other family members into confidence. At the initial stage the victim is allowed to behave naturally which somewhat reveals the effect of the drug residue remained in him or her. This is done to record specific response of the victims which helps design and customize the counseling process suitable for him or her. This follows a counseling which is related to the medication and therapeutic method considered appropriate. It is certainly meant for a change in the behavior of the victims. In the middle to later stages of the counseling, close relations are involved to take part to make the victim feel home and behave like a normal being. Sometimes the victims at the rehabilitation centers are allowed to go out and roam around. This is done to assess how they react in the society as free living beings.

Relations with the partners; parents and siblings

This is an extremely important part of the Heroin Rehab program as far as the modern therapeutic methods are concerned. In modern psychotherapeutic science, much importance is added to the bonding between a victim and his or her spouse or family. 'In-house victims', who are often considered relatively less vulnerable to their rehab center counterparts, are allowed and encouraged to get intimate with their partners. Sexual relations are seen to release stress and fatigue. It helps the victim get back the confidence sooner than any other ways. For the persons who are not married or engaged, interactions with parents, siblings and closely knit friends are advised. Many of the medical therapists and counselors are of the opinion that victims should be taken to hang-out or even a travel trip to get back their normal behavioral pattern. Emotional bonding is found to cure and sooth disorder like no other means. The addicts are too encouraged to participate in leisure and creative activities like group discussions, meetings, hang-out, movies and libraries et cetera.

Lifestyle;  Rehab Centre Environment

The victims are encouraged to lead a regular life style for reverting to the period previous to the drug affected life. The drug victims always do seek hide for a queer state of their mind. This is more seen at the initial stage of the counseling when the victims remain much more vulnerable due to the intense effect of the drug or more specifically Heroin. Many are of the opinion that the drug causes a neuropsychiatric change that makes person withdraw from others. They shrink their personality and avoid interacting with others. The objective of Heroin Rehab Program is to gradually bring out these people of their hide and make them freely mix with other people. The program, in its different phases, helps the victim steadily pass out the toxicity of the drug, mentally and physically. This is a continuous process and is best applied through lifestyle. The 'in-house victims' are encouraged to lead a normal and healthy life while the victim who are staying at the Rehab Centers are allowed to lead an easy and liberal life at the centers. All the way the Rehab program aims at restoring their confidence and make them revert to the normal way of leading life. Even the Centers are provided with gym, libraries and other facilities where the victims can find  means of mental and physical exercise. This is particularly helpful to ease out neuropsychiatric disorder or disease of the victims.

No alternative to the Rehab program

The approach toward the cure of drug addiction especially Heroin calls for highly specialized medical regimen and therapeutic methods. These days there many clinics and centers who offer these facilities. The family members and close relations are always recommended to take their beloved victim to consult with the medical practitioner or qualified therapist. Mostly, the experts try to keep the victims in-house as that is sure to help a lot, while the extremely vulnerable ones are best advised to be sent over to the rehab centers for better monitoring. It is the degree or extent of damage caused to an addicts' internal and behavioral system that determines the suitable method of medical or therapeutic treatment to be meted out to the victims. Sure, the relatives don't want their beloved ones away from them in a care center with a lot of other strangers. But it is for the addict's well being. The sooner it is realized by other family members of the victim, the better is the prospect of cure. Add to this is the constantly vigilant facility of the rehab centers with medical and associate stuff who are at the easy reach of the addicts surrounded by a friendly ambience conducive to fast cure addiction. The Heroin Rehab programs are meant to deal with the physical and psychological aspects of the addicts which are best left to the experts of the programs.

Abuse of prescription drugs in the United States is growing into an under the radar epidemic. But what is an addiction to prescription drugs? According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse…

“Prescription drug abuse is the use of a medication without a prescription, in a way other than as prescribed, or for the experience or feelings elicited”

No one decides that they want to get addicted to prescription drugs. It normally happens to people who have a genetic predisposition to addictions. The cause or even that triggers the addiction isn’t the same for everyone.

For most opioid addictions (Painkillers) it may happen after a serious injury where they began taking them for the pain. During their course of treatment the patient normally builds such a reliance on the drugs for everyday living that even once they have recovered they continue to take them.

When abused, these opioid painkillers can give the user huge amounts of energy. This energy can get addictive, especially to busy professionals and housewives who juggle a million things at once.

Other common household drugs that are often abused include anti-anxiety medications and sedatives along with certain stimulants. The user generally gets hooked much the same as a painkiller addiction, and they all will destroy your life.

So how do you know if you, or someone you love is having problems with prescription drug abuse? Depending on the type of drug the symptoms will vary, but there are some that are standard across the board which include:

  • Stealing, Forging or selling prescriptions
  • Taking higher doses than recommended
  • Mood swings or hostility
  • Changes in sleeping patterns
  • Poor decision making
  • And seeing more than one doctor for prescriptions

Is Suboxone right for you? Read this article and discover if you meet the criteria. So how does Suboxone work exactly? By reading this article you will find out how it is a miracle detox drug and how it can help you get clean from your addiction without going cold turkey.

Suboxone: Is it really the miracle detox drug?

Do you suffer from opioid addiction? Are you addicted to heroin, morphine, vicodin, oxycodone, hydrocodone or other opioid based painkillers?

Are you after a way to get clean without the “Death like” suffering of going cold turkey? If you answered yes to any of the above then a suboxone Detox Rehab might be what you have been looking for.

But before you get your hopes up I need to tell you something. Suboxone isn’t for everyone. For it to be any use in treating your addiction you need to be addicted to an opioid based drug. If your addicted to alcohol, cannabis, cocaine or other non-opioid drugs then sadly this isn’t the rehab drug for you.

Also, if you are currently a heavy user, and your addiction is sever then you mightn’t be able to kick off straight away with suboxone. Don’t get me wrong it definitely will help you but it needs to be used properly.

So how does Suboxone work? Basically you place suboxone under your tongue and allow it to slowly dissolve. It may take 5 to 10 minutes to completely dissolve depending on the person, but you can speed the process up by drinking water beforehand.

It is used to treat the withdrawal symptoms of your addiction by slowly easing you off. Generally you will need to wait for 36-72 hours between your last doses of drug of choice before you can take suboxone.

But don’t worry; you don’t need to calculate this all on your own. We know that it is hard, especially when you are coming off of a long term addiction. That is why at our substance abuse treatment centre we have a team of trained medical experts to help you through your detox process.

Once you have started your medication cycle our trained experts will slowly taper you off. Dose by dose your intake will get less, either by taking less of the drug of by increasing the time between doses. After a period of time you will finally be completely clean. No more opioid addiction and no more regular does of suboxone.

So does this mean you won’t suffer any withdrawal symptoms? Sadly it doesn’t. It’s not a miracle drug that will get you clean without any pain. But what it does do is allow you to get clean slowly so the side effects are very minimal. Most users of suboxone say that the process is the easiest way they have tried to get clean from their addictions.

Like I mentioned above it’s not for everyone. If for any reason it isn’t don’t worry, our trained team of addiction experts will be able to help you get clean without the pain and suffering of going cold turkey.

So give us a call on 866-287-8870 and let us help you get clean…without the suffering, without the relapses, and without the pain and loneliness that you experience at home.

Issues surrounding Marijuana Rehab in the US

The term marijuana describes dried leaves, flowers and seeds of an Indian hemp plant. It is also known as cannabis but all along it has been renamed again and again depending on the locality where it is consumed. Some of the names which are tagged to marijuana include: bhang, grass, ganja, dope, pot, Texas Tea weed, home, gown among other names. It is an herb which traces its history back in 2737 B.C according to a Chinese medical reference over time it has spread to most part of the globe.

How Marijuana is used

Marijuana flowers or leaves are dried and then smoked in form of cigarette, piped or mixed with other beverages or food substances. Marijuana Rehab is an affirmative action aimed at stopping marijuana consumption because of the following reasons:

It is a hallucinogen drug. When consumed, it distorts the way of thinking of an individual and impairs the short term memory, making it very difficult for and individual to learn and internalize information especially difficult and mind tasking jobs. It slows the rate at which the body coordinates itself. It is accompanied by slow athletic performance, distorted driving skills exposing the user to so many risks. Cannabis distorts the decision making ability of a person. That is why many people tend to engage in illegal sexual activities, robbery among other vices which lower the human dignity. Cannabis makes a person’s mood quite unpredictable and this is very dangerous especially for the married couples. It induces anxiety and calmness at different instances. Continued consumption of cannabis leads to: poor academic performance, addiction, and respiration related complications such as bronchitis and cancer and total brain damage.

Marijuana Rehab is therefore necessary because marijuana use has led to many economic losses, social complications and the worst of all disastrous healthy effects. It is so sad to note that even animals which are exposed to cannabis suffer serious structural brain damage.

Uses of marijuana

There is a heated debate on the real uses of Marijuana in the United States. There are those who say that Cannabis is used as a medicine in some states. In those states it is recognized by the law. On the other hand, there are people who are opposed to the use of Cannabis. These people who are against the drug are supported by a study which was published in the Archives of General Psychiatry. This study is full of facts for those people who would wish to see the drug eliminated from the streets.

Use of Marijuana in other countries

Many experts have tried to analyze studies done in other countries in the past. In one such analysis, it was found that there is a statistical correlation earlier start of psychosis and the use of cannabis. Averagely, it was discovered that those people who use cannabis the onset of psychosis happened some 2.7 years earlier as compared to those people who did not use marijuana.

In a general case, the researchers found out that the individuals who abuse other substances get psychosis two years earlier than their friends who do not do the same. That means that those who do not abuse substances are much safer than their counterparts.

The researchers were very clear that the use of marijuana does not cause psychosis, but they found out that it did in some users. The people who campaign for the banning of marijuana find these kinds of studies to be very helpful. The studies though do not cover the medicinal use of marijuana at all.

Federal Government Stand on Marijuana

According to Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, marijuana has a reputation of being the most abused drug in the US of all the abuse drugs. The substance is considered illicit by a large number of people. A survey carried out by National Survey on Drug Use and Health in 2003, over 14.6 million in the US who are over the age of 12 years had smoked marijuana in the month before the survey was done.

In 2004, researchers found that over 4.3 million people were dependent on marijuana. That means that they were consistent in abusing and therefore could not without it as a result they were required to visit a Marijuana Rehab. This is a clear sign that any use of marijuana is associated with some risks to your health. We are focusing to the individuals who depend on marijuana or just use it heavily.

It has been noted that people who use marijuana develop withdrawal from the society. This is usually caused by large dozes of marijuana. This is called withdrawal syndrome and it is very common for about 15 per cent of all people who abuse marijuana. These people have other symptoms such as sleep disturbance, nervousness and change of appetite.

According to several Marijuana Rehab centers, the people who are marijuana dependent are said to develop a craving for during the time that they are not using the drug. Studies have not found out why marijuana users get addicted. The fact is that there is a dependence syndrome. A study was conducted in Baltimore in the US on people who abuse marijuana. It was discovered that 6% of the people who use marijuana met Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders criteria for dependence. This is according to the findings by the Psychiatric Association.

Some other researchers have found out that those persons who use marijuana for more than once per week are more likely to become dependent. It was reported that an increased number of marijuana users went to seek treatment in the 1990s. The number more than doubled at this time. That means that a large number of people who user marijuana are in need of a marijuana rehab.

Numerous surveys have shown that people who use marijuana and do not seek any treatment are faced with high chances of getting memory impairment, low self-esteem, motivation, concentration, poor health and hence problems with their finances. These people also have problems keeping their employment because they might be less effective at their place of work. There are also a group of people who use marijuana and were under medication before due to the effects of that use for a long period of time.  There are people in the Marijuana Rehab who make several attempts to stop using marijuana but in vain. These are people who persist in using a drug despite the negative effects that it has on their. It causes a lot of impairment. These can be physical, social or just psychological problems. These are the people who are not able to stop using the drug.

The chronic marijuana use has been associated with a lot of problems in the past 10 years. It was quite relieving to note that these problems were less severe as compared to those caused by other drugs such as alcohol. A large number of people using marijuana lead to great public health concerns. This is similar to those individuals who use the mood-altering substances.

A large number of previous studies have shown that a large number of people who abuse marijuana make a good response to a large number of practical interventions. These are voucher-based treatments, motivational enhancements and cognitive behavior. The treatment of people abusing marijuana is very similar to that of using other drugs. When these people improve due to treatment, they also get other positive gains. The dependence symptoms also improve.  The studies do not do a lot of generalizing of the treatment findings.

Legality of Marijuana Use

The federal laws make it illegal to possess, use or sale marijuana in the US. Despite that, there are several states in the US where the use of marijuana is legal. It is allowed by the state laws.  These states have by-laws which allow this drug to be used for medicinal reasons. Any other use which is not medicinal is against the law. The states of Washington and Colorado allow its people to use marijuana for medical and non-medical uses. The states are making laws on the regulation and distribution of this drug.

Despite the efforts made by the states to legalize the use of marijuana, the federal state maintains its stance that “marijuana is dangerous and has no medicinal benefit.” The president of the US does not support the legalization of this herb.

Drug Rehabilitation Centers

It is not an easy task to find a good marijuana rehab centre because many people go out looking for one when there is an emergency such as an overdose. The other time when a Marijuana Rehab centre becomes fashionable is when there is a legal problem or just a physical problem which arises as a result of the type of lifestyle adopted by the drug addict. The addict is usually taken to a marijuana rehab when they express an interest to change their lifestyle for the better.

There is a database of more than four thousand rehab centers in the US. This database was developed by organization called Addicted.org. These are centers where people are advised on how to escape the traps of alcohol and drug dependency. It is good to carry out a research and find out which treatment rehab centre is most suitable for you. It has been noted that marijuana rehab requires one to follow given advice and other predictable steps.

OxyContin Rehabs: Answer to OxyContin Abuse

Substance abuse has been a very serious problem that needs highly intensive procedures to be solved. Once you start to engage with narcotic drugs, you will always be searching for it; and no matter how hard you try, you will not be able to easily break out of it. Excessive usage of drugs can cause a lot of damage to someone’s life; in every aspect of it. Aside from being physically ill, drug addiction will also affect you socially, mentally and emotionally.

One of the most consumed narcotics is the OxyContin. It is a very effective painkiller, but can be very addictive if used improperly. OxyContin, which is also dubbed as the Hillbilly Heroin, has been generating millions and millions of dollars every year; thus the cases of death rooting from obsession to this drug have drastically increased.

This calls for more rehabilitation centers offering services for correcting OxyContin addiction. More OxyContin rehabs means more rooms for improvement for people with deteriorated life due to excessive use of the drug. To meet the demands for OxyContin rehabs, centers for curing narcotic addiction are starting to formulate programs that will help OxyContin addicts get out of their deliriousness and get back to the normal life that they used to live.

The Truth about OxyContin

OxyContin is a white crystalline powder derived from thebaine. It is a known pain reliever prescribed by doctors to patients experience intense pain due to surgery recovery, injury or severe illnesses. This drug has a long-term effect on the patient, so he/she would have to take it a little less often compared to other pain relievers. OxyContin is classified as an Oxycodone, which is opioid-based. Because of this, the drug can cause addictiveness to its users when abused. Excessive intake of the drug can bring someone’s life into peril. It can lead to serious psychological conditions or at worse cases, death.

On prescription, the patient should inform the doctor if he/she had a history of drug or alcohol abuse. The side effects of the drug worsen if alcohol is taken during medication. This can also trigger former drug users to get back to the habit they used to do. OxyContin is also not prescribed to patients with asthma, low blood pressure, seizure disorder, head injury, digestive ailment, breathing problem or kidney disease.

Symptoms and Side Effects of Addiction

Because of the addictive nature of OxyContin, some people can’t resist taking high dosage of it. To check if someone close to you is compulsive to OxyContin, look for the following symptoms:

  • Withdrawal symptoms; this can be observed during the time the patient stopped taking the medicine. If he/she seems disturbed after some time of not taking the medicine, then he/she is suffering from withdrawal symptoms. This is also evident if the patient is showing cravings for the drug.
  • Mood swings; this is characterized by the sudden change of emotion of the patient. Extreme use of OxyContin can cause dizziness and weakness which may be responsible for the abrupt shifting of his/her mood.
  • Engaging to crimes like stealing. The patient has the tendency to steal money from his/her relatives or friends to be able to finance his/her habit.
  • “Doctor Shopping;” an unethical conduct that is common among drug addicts. A patient will consult several physicians and lie about his/her medical condition so they will be able to receive more prescriptions of the drug.

Considering the last symptom, this may be attributed to the dramatic increase of OxyContin abuse cases; because it is not hard to purchase. The confiscation of morphine and heroin are very strict that once you were caught carrying some of it, you will be punished accordingly. But if you were caught with OxyContin, you can show the prescription of your doctor; that is an alibi that can easily be bought.

The serious side effects of overdose of this drug include difficulty in breathing, abnormal heartbeat, sudden dizziness, severe weakness, seizures and mental disturbances.

The Need for More Rehabs

Millions of OxyContin prescriptions yield a massive amount of income from the consumers. This goes to show that a lot of people are getting addicted to this drug. The problem even crawls down to the lower age bracket; there are 12-year old children that are already exposed to OxyContin. This calls for higher demands for OxyContin rehabs; every community needs it as much as it needs Heroin rehabs. That is why a lot of centers had already devised programs that will facilitate the recovery of OxyContin addicts.

The Detox Process

Almost all rehab programs start with the detoxification procedure. This is a very crucial process, so the patients need in-depth monitoring. This will be conducted by pushing the patient to cease the intake of OxyContin. This will be done in a very gradual manner; however, it will not eliminate the suffering of the patient from several withdrawal symptoms. Actually, the withdrawal aftermaths are the reasons why the detox process is very crucial and challenging. Patients may exhibit cravings for the drug and mood swings. They may also suffer from depression and anxiety. Because of these, they might think of committing suicide.

Getting through this process is very rewarding. The burden of the patient is almost over because his/her physical obsession for the drug has already been cured. However, they will still have to undergo more procedures before being ready for release.

Counseling and Aftercare

After detoxification, the patient will proceed to counseling. He/she will be asked of certain questions regarding history of drug abuse, the cause of usage of the drug, the triggering factor to be obsessed with the drug, and the willingness to escape from drug addiction.

The patient should be carefully supplied with positive thoughts on how his/her life will run well without the intervention of OxyContin. This can be carried out by comparing the patient’s life before and while he/she is under the influence of the drug. During the progress of this procedure, the patient should gain a strong drive to break out of OxyContin addiction.

After counseling, the patient will undergo aftercare. This is done in several ways, depending on the type of program the rehab has. In 12-step programs, the patients are allowed to socialize with other recovering individuals. They will talk about the struggles that they are facing formerly as a drug user and as a person trying to find redemption. They will help each other cope up, and the group will be like a surrogate family.

If the patient has fully recovered, he/she will be ready to be release. He/she will now be able to live a better life without being controlled by OxyContin

Selecting the Best Rehab

Rehabilitation centers can be classified as inpatient or outpatient. In an inpatient rehab, the patient will reside on the correctional facility through the stretch of the recovery program. On the other hand, outpatient rehabs allow the patients to get home and get to experience the life on the outside world.

If the patient is strongly addicted to Hillbilly Heroin, then it is recommended for him/her to be admitted in an inpatient rehab. Patients who recovered through inpatient rehabs have lower chances of regressing, since their access to drugs is limited. There are also specialized services in inpatient rehabs, like yoga classes and religious services. However, they will be having a harder time coping up with the outside environment since they recovered in a secluded area. It will be more difficult for them to obtain employment or reconnect personal relationships.

On the other hand, outpatient rehabs require lower budget because you do not have to pay for lodging and other special services. Being treated in an outpatient rehab will let the patient easily get employed and reconcile broken personal relationships; however, the risk of relapsing is very high. The outside world is filled with temptations for recovering drug addicts. They can go back to being addicted whenever they want to.

Recovery programs also differ in length. The selection of the program will be based on the patient’s particular needs. For severe cases of addiction, it is preferable to pick the longer programs because they offer more intensive treatment. Individuals with mild cases of addiction may select shorter programs.

Prevention is better than Cure

It is always better to carry out prevention measures; it is less painful, less dangerous and more effective compared to recovery programs.

If you are prescribed by your doctor to take OxyContin, be sure that you follow your schedule. Taking the medicine more frequently than prescribed will surely trigger addiction. Also ask your doctor regarding the proper way of disengaging from the intake of this drug. Withdrawal symptoms may arise if you suddenly discontinue the use of the drug.

Do not offer OxyContin to an alcoholic, for alcohol intake worsens the side effects of the medicine. Also, do not offer it to someone who has a history of substance abuse, for it may bring them back to addiction.

Do not breastfeed while taking OxyContin, because Oxycodone can be transmitted through milk.

As much as possible, avoid taking OxyContin; if there are alternative pain relievers that is not narcotic-based, then choose them over OxyContin. Take OxyContin only if it is strongly recommended by your phycisian.
